Pushing their limits...Venice Day 2

We powered through another day in Venice as the calls and the cries to go back to the apartment and play, rest and sit down poured out from the youngest three members of the family. Just kidding, it was just the girls and only when they were hungry did the exhaustion seem to surface. So we fed them and moved on. According to our fancy pedometer (Fitbit) we walked over 14 miles in the last 32 hours, so we are 1000% proud of our girls (even if in the moment we were frustrated with them).
So much of Venice seems like it is the same as the rest, but when you pause and look, it is all so unique, incredible and baffling. Imagining how these enormous churches, buildings, palaces, bridges and infrastructure were physically built is inspiring as you think about what we consider obstacles and hurdles in our lives. We have taken loads of photos and not one of them captures the totality of the size, colors, detail, vividness and depth that our eyes see and our brains absorb every second we look around. The only thing on earth that can truly capture every ounce of beauty around us are our senses-nothing compares to the creation that is mankind.

As the troops were getting weary we turned to a couple safe bets; for the girls a 1 euro squishy toy and for mom and dad a gondola ride-both were a huge hit. After unloading, we marched off on the hunt for a special place to eat and after wandering through the maze that is Venice for almost an hour we found our selected pub full with an hour wait. Plan B was the place around the corner that said pizza. With another good pizza in our stomach, we finally told the girls it was time to head back to the apartment-with a stop for some more gelato on the way. We boarded a vaporetto and rode it up the grand canal, once again being taken back by the scenery-this time enjoying it all only through the night lights along the canal.
