New foods & new activities

After a fall and early winter that consisted of milk and oatmeal, I was ecstatic when Dr. Brice told Mom & Dad it was time to start expanding my diet—I’d been looking forward to putting my two teeth to use for something other than making Mom jump. Since getting the news almost a month ago, I haven’t found a new food I didn’t like and to Dad’s delight cheeseburgers are one of my favorites (In-N-Out makes a mean burger). Mom likes the fact that I devour blueberries because they are full of antioxidants--which are great for countering the effects of free radicals, at least that’s what Mom tells me. I also hear that it is important-especially for girls-to get a lot of calcium, so I insist on a lot of dairy: cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, string cheese and yogurt are some of my favorite sources of calcium. I am looking forward to combining two of my favorites to try a Bordner classic—pancakes and apple sauce (GP & Uncle Rhett swear by it). With the addition of all this food I also had to add brushing my gums and two teeth to my daily routine. At first I wasn’t so sure about brushing, but Mom & Dad let me help so I got use to it real quick. When I was at Dr. Brice’s I learned I was still in the 50th percentile for weight (18 pounds 13 ounces), 80 percentile for height (28.5 inches) and 30th percentile for head size (17 inches).
I wish I could report that I had taken my first step, but all I seem to be able to manage are longer balance times and throwing myself from ottoman to couch. I am finding new ways to practice my walking and my newest strategy involves walking with my hands on the wall and following the wall all the way around the room—not a great view, but good practice for learning to walk. While walking is taking a lot of work to master, I am clapping, waving and even starting to give kisses—Dad says I already give world-class hugs.
I am excited and nervous to report that I started my swimming lessons this week. I’m not quite sure what to think of it all, but we did learn that my instructor graduated from Mom’s high school and was friends with Uncle Matt. I figure that has to be a good thing. I have six weeks of lessons and it is our goal that by the end I’ll be proficient at what is called, Swim, Float, Swim just in time to for our departure for Washington—where we actually see bodies of water.

I love pancakes. I love blueberries. Blueberry pancakes, are you kidding!

Sometimes I need a free hand, but I also need two golf balls.

It may be Mom's putter right now, but I've got my eye on it. Hello, it has a cute pink grip.

This is my friend Juliette. She was over at our house having dinner and had a diaper incident, so our parents turned it into bath time. No complaints from either of us.

Love to all,

Reese Bronson
