Older, louder and happier

As I close in on my first birthday I’m reflecting and trying to think of a month that compares to the 11th month I’m wrapping up next week. Everyday has been a true adventure and the past 30 seem no different, I’m in love with life and using my smile to prove it to anyone who will take notice. Mom and Dad say my smile and laugh are the greatest stress relievers in the world—and the good news is they are only getting bigger and louder.
A couple weeks ago I had my first visitors to swim lessons and I was so excited to show off what I had been learning. Mrs. Pam and I had been working on my face down swimming and I just knew that the added pressure of an audience would push me to succeed. It is tough to know what they are thinking when I’m swimming because my ears are under water, so when I come up I make sure to make eye contact with everyone on the pool deck and smile at them to see if they saw my hard work—I usually get some applause and congratulations. I’m usually on top of what is going on around me, but I was caught off guard one day when I turned around in the pool and saw Dad in the water with me, the next day Mom was in the pool and then last Friday they were both in the pool and I got to swim from one to the other—an 11th month olds dream!
Adding to the excitement of the past month was that we had out of town visitors, GP & Gigi flew down from Washington, Uncle Rhett drove down from Tempe, and Aunt Biz came from Texas. Other than Uncle Rhett I hadn’t seen them in over 6 months—which is a long time since I’m only 11 months old! We had a great time hanging out, watching basketball and getting caught up. They were all amazed at how I had grown, and I told them it is easy when you love to eat.
Before my visitors arrived I had been working really hard on my walking, and they were all very helpful in assisting me during my daily practice sessions, and even though I improved dramatically during their visit, my walking still resembled someone with Jell-O legs when they left. However with a renewed since of determination in the weeks since they left I’ve become a full-out walker whose stability and speed I’m happy to say both my great grandmas would be jealous of.
As great as the month has been the last week has been tough, Dad has been in Washington interviewing for his summer staff and Mom and I have missed him more than he wants a boat and private ski lake. He comes back today and we are super excited to see and tell him all about our week and my first Easter. I had the cutest little Easter dress for the party yesterday at Nana and Bops. I’ve been practicing for weeks for the Easter egg hunt; Saturday night I was able to hold three eggs at once! When the Easter egg hunt started I got extremely lucky and found the best egg first, so I stopped and played with it for the rest of the hunt.

Last Easter was my last day in mommy's tummy. This year I got a new dress for the occasion.
When Dad was packing for his trip I tried my best to slow him down so he would miss his plane.
Unfortunetely it didn't work and he was gone for near eternity.
After swim lessons I like to encourage and offer advice and help to the other swimmers.
Once my grandparents started coming to swimming lessons, I stopped crying so they wouldn't worry.
I'm a natural when it comes to feeding myself.

Catch me if you can Dad.
